Dubai - National media Council congratulates Khaleej Times on its commitment to quality news.

I am delighted to congratulate Khaleej Times on its 40^th anniversary. KT is the longest established English language media newspaper in the UAE and has played an instrumental role in reporting the nation's array of impressive achievements and the numerous auspicious occasions that it has enjoyed over the past four decades. KT has proved to be an indispensable source of news for the country's English-speaking residents and a trusted and reliable barometer of their ambitions and aspirations. It is both apt and fitting that its milestone 40^th anniversary of high quality journalism and second-to-none editorial standards comes in the Year of Zayed, with the publication and the founder of the nation both sharing the same vision and values.
NMC functions to empower the national media sector by working closely together to provide a developed media environment. Among the number of ways, it does this is by introducing innovative initiatives to employ technology in the service of traditional and new media. The council's aim in this regard is to ensure the generation of rich and diverse content that meets the needs of all segments of society which highlights the country's many cultural and technological achievements. I am looking forward to continuing our working with KTand other newspapers in the development of new forms of media that will tie in the paper's high quality editorial content with the latest formats designed to best reach the UAE's discerning news consumer.
