Radio Asia launches Onam programmes

Though the entire programming from "Atham", the first day of the 10-day festival, to Thiruvonam, the grand Onam day, will have an Onam flavour, on the last two days, "Uthradam" and "Thiruvonam" and the 11th day, "Avittam", there will be a feast of traditional and entertainment programmes.

Titled Uthradavirunnu, Thiruvona Kazhcha and Avani Pookal are to be aired on September 7, 8 and 9 respectively. These programmes consists of Sangeeta Silpam, a musical feature, a comedy skit on all three days, comedy talk shows, dramatisation of the world famous Thomas Hardy's work, Mayor of Caster Bridge in three parts. Onam with celebrities, a film-based programme reviewing all the new Malayalam movies released during the Onam will also be aired.

A three day-long road show is also being scheduled, where the radio artistes will walk into the gatherings of Malayalees and share the excitement of Onam with them. The station will also be giving away hundreds of gifts to its listeners during the Onam days.
