Radio Jockey Sacked for ‘Inappropriate
On-air Conduct’

DUBAI — A South African radio jockey at a local radio station has been fired for “inappropriate on-air conduct” after he pretended to imitate God on his early morning show on Sunday.

Arabian Radio Network (ARN), which owns Virgin Radio, confirmed the decision.

Funnyman Revin John, presenter of Virgin Radio’s ‘Breakfast Xpress’, was fired following complaints from offended listeners.

According to ARN, John read an article from an American web site in which a court had overturned a lawsuit against God.

“He then proceeded to act out that he was in fact talking with God on the telephone. Listeners of diverse faiths and nationalities were uncomfortable with this and shared their views with ARN, which then took action,” said Mahmoud Al Rasheed, General Manager of ARN in a statement to Khaleej Times.

“ARN has continuously maintained that it is a company that respects the cultures and traditions of all people. The unfortunate incident that took place was one that does not in any way reflect the opinions, values or standards of ARN, but was a mistake by one of our employees. Revin John, however, was not available for comment.
