Hundreds of families in several parts of the emirate were badly affected. Around 120 of them live in Al Fahleen area where all houses had been flooded as rainwater filled the nearby Naqb Valley, official records showed.
More than 1,000 incidents of damaged roads, fallen walls and rocks, landslides, and uprooted trees and poles were also reported and attended to, authorities said.
In response to the Ras Al Khaimah Ruler's directive, Maj-Gen Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police, has formed a special committee to assess the damage.
"The decision reflects the leadership's tireless effort to ease people's suffering and support them at a time of emergency," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.
The committee will include all departments concerned, added the officer, who also chairs the emergency, crises and disasters team of the emirate.
"The committee will visit every part of the emirate; identify the people affected by the rain; and refer them to the Ruler so they can be given compensation," he said.
