Even as workers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) continued to threaten and assault Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates on Thursday, the fledgling party has intensified its campaign for the April 30 Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat with its two top star campaigners making a mockery of Gujarat’s development model.

Rajmohan Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson, has said that Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate, is, indeed, a genius but in marketing, not in development.

The scholar and former professor, who is on a five-day tour of Gujarat and has campaigned for AAP candidates at several places in the state, told a gathering of Sindhi community torch-bearers that Modi claimed that there was development in Gujarat, but the true story was that development had only deteriorated in the state.

“There were tall claims of Gujarat reaping the fruits of development. But where is it?,” asked Gandhi who has already visited Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahesana, Kheda, Banaskantha, Ahmedabad, Deesa, Palanpur and Dhandhuka areas. “Nation can believe that Gujarat is developed only when the common man says so. One can’t blindly agree with Modi,” he said.
