RAS AL KHAIMAH — As a part and parcel of its efforts to provide the emirate’s residents with a clean living environment, the RAK Municipality (RM) has issued on Monday a regulation banning smoking in barber shops and beauty saloons. The civic body circulated on Monday a statement to all beauty parlours and barber shops prohibiting their employees as well as customers from smoking.
“The new regulation is aimed at preserving public health,” said Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director-General of RM. The official also pointed out that the civic body is determined to be tough against those who violate the new regulations. “We will not be lenient with those who disobey our directives in this regard,” he added. Al Shamsi also warned the beauty saloons and barber shops against violating the new system. “Besides slapping them with hefty fines, we will take legal action against those who disobey the new procedures,” he added. The department had earlier formed a special section to look after beauty saloons.
