Al Muntasir subjected his life to danger while trying to catch the robber.

A ten-minute video footage of the brave standoff was screened at the ceremony held at the General Police Headquarters to honour him.

On the day of the incident, Al Muntasir was at home around 5am when he was alerted about an attempt to rob the bank.

He rushed to the scene with a colleague who remained seated in the police patrol vehicle. Al Muntasir entered the bank through the back door, which the robber had broken open.

The robber, who was armed with a medium-sized knife, tried to escape when Al Muntasir confronted him. After minutes of physical struggle, the robber managed to wriggle out of the cop’s hands and flee with injuries.

The investigation team arrived at the scene just as the robber escaped and arrested him in a few hours from his hideout in a neighbouring area.

During the recent function, Major-General Shaikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah Police, described Al Muntasir as a loyal and a distinguished brave cop and presented him with a certificate of honour and cash prize.

He also expressed his pride in the entire police force of the emirate.

“The Ras Al Khaimah police force consists of hardworking, dedicated officers who have made, and will continue to make, their greatest efforts to ensure that their department and their city preserve their pride, dignity and professionalism,” Major-General Shaikh Taleb said.
