The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation to the Philippines, led by Mohammed Abdullah Al Hajj Al Zarouni, has discussed with the Philippines’ Red Cross Society the best ways to deliver the UAE relief aid to Filipino families affected by Typhoon Bopha (known locally as Typhoon Pablo) late last year.
The meeting was attended by the UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Mousa Abdul Wahid Abdul Ghafar Al Khaja, along with a number of Filipino officials.
Al Zarouni said the RCA is now ready to dispatch relief aid to those affected, noting that the RCA responded to the relief calls made by humanitarian bodies.
The category 5 ‘super’ typhoon caused widespread destruction at the time, with more than 1000 deaths recorded, and tens of thousands rendered homeless.
