RCS to distribute 2,500 Iftar meals

AL AIN — Hamad Saif Al Shamsy, Director of the Al Ain Red Crescent Society (AARCS), has announced that the AARCS will be distributing 2500 Iftar meals daily as part of its Ramadan Iftar project which is a generous grant from the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to help needy persons during Ramadan.

While 1500 Iftar meals will be given for women and children through the AARCS main branch in Markhaneyah area, 500 meals will be distributed for men in Al Ain Central Market, in addition to 500 meals in Hili industrial area.

The AARCS has fixed Iftar tents at 30 locations in Al Ain city.

Al Shamsy said the AARCS was carrying out projects worth Dh10 million during Ramadan.

The society has specified Dh2,600,000 for the benefit of 1300 students, Dh30,000 for rehabilitation of persons with special needs, Dh500,000 for foodstuff to be distributed to poor families and Dh500,000 for medical care programmes.

Recently, an Al Ain local philanthropist donated Dh3,600,000 to help about 3400 limited-income families that have been registered at AARCS.

The AARCS has distributed foodstuff to 7,000 needy families since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan under the Ramadan Meer Project.
