When Asim Shahzad first arrived to the UAE as an investor in 2017, he had ventured into the world of real estate, where he had managed three residential buildings in Dubai. After noting fluctuations in the market, he took on a quick-witted decision the same year and changed his course to explore the potentials of e-commerce.
"An acquaintance, who was one of my previous tenants, got me interested in this market," said Shahzad, whose expertise lies in the finance sector.
This led to the establishment of Royal Smart Electronics, followed by AM International in June 2018. Upon its affiliation with Noon.com, one of the UAE's largest e-commerce platforms, AM International proceeded to procure a variety of consumer goods ranging from electronics, all kinds of mobile accessories to cosmetics, among others.
With a strong team of market experts based in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and his homeland Pakistan, Shahzad gained a prominent presence on the online shopping platform and earned praise from its founder Mohamed Alabbar, a renowned Emirati entrepreneur best known for establishing Emaar Properties and developing some of the Dubai's iconic structures, such as Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.
"We were among the select few invited by Mohammed Alabbar to an event in 2018 that celebrated top sellers of the year on Noon.com. He had shown appreciation for our company that demonstrated good results and revenue in the market in such a short period of time," Shahzad said. He added that AM International receives rave reviews for its commitment, product availability, consistent quality and affordable prices.
Despite challenging times where a lot of companies are shutting down, AM International has managed to continue its operations and caters to its clients successfully. Now Shahzad looking forward to expand his horizons and recently started a new company, Amson World Technology. He explained that this will focus on e-commerce, IT solutions, games development, customise Android and iOS mobile applications, and website development.
An ambitious individual with a strong interest in diversification, Shahzad said he has set his sights on global expansion and hopes to be on par with competitors such as Amazon in the near future.
"My dream is to be present wherever Noon.com opens branches and continue to provide top-notch support to the organisation," he said.
Shahzad also hopes to win the 'Best Seller of the Year' award, hosted by Noon.com, in the coming year.
"I would like to thank Mohammed Alabbar, founder of Noon.com, for providing me this potential platform. I would also like to thank CEO Faraz Khalid and the entire team of Noon.com for managing everything smoothly. Last but not least, I would like to thank my team and everyone in my company."
