Happy 68th Republic Day to all Indians! Today is a proud day for all of us here in the UAE as His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is the Chief Guest at the Indian Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. This is a privilege that few leaders in the world enjoy and is a public display on the depth of the relationship between the two countries.
To celebrate the special occasion, Khaleej Times has come out with a 94-page tabloid magazine edition, a keepsake one that focuses on UAE-India relations.
Historically the UAE and India share a special bond. Indians are one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE recognised for their entrepreneurship, hard work and diligence. Indians love and respect the Rulers of the UAE for their foresightedness and wisdom in moving the country forward after independence in 1971. They are respected for their efforts in the visionary development of the UAE.
Both India and the UAE have witnessed rapid changes in recent decades. India, the largest democracy in the world, has a vibrant private sector. With rapid increase in trade ties, India and the UAE have become closer in their relationships.
The Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri, and Consul-General of India, Anurag Bhushan, share their views with Khaleej Times on this occasion. This special edition acts as a bridge and connects UAE nationals and Indians in the UAE with leaders and decision makers in India. As Bhushan rightly says, "The UAE is a friendly country that has welcomed not only us Indians, but also people from across the world. The main contributing factor is the healthy atmosphere that this country provides and the high standard of living."
We have several Indian business leaders from the UAE express their opinion on different matters. One of them is Dr Azad Moopen of Aster DM Healthcare, who will be personally attending the Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi. He says that he recognises the significance of the visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This occasion provides an opportunity to exchange views and perspectives to further develop the partnership between India and the UAE. Meanwhile, don't miss the feature on the unsung heroes of India living in the UAE.
