The Ministry of Interior has called on all UAE nationals, residents and GCC nationals to register in the “e-Gate service”, which allows for passenger entry and exit self-service through Passport Control & Immigration.

Abu Dhabi Police Major Central Operations Director-General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi said the e-Gate project follows the directives by Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressing the modern gate system facilitates safe travel procedures.

“This project is uniquely applied in the UAE, the first country in the world to utilise the vital print registration mechanism (for example) retina scan, hand print and face print.”

The E-Gate system would offer a smooth travel procedure and save time with estimates travellers should be able to finalise their procedures in less than 20 seconds.

The first phase has already been applied at the Abu Dhabi International Airport in gates 1 and 3. The project is set to expand to all UAE’s airports at a later stage. Registration, which is free, begins today (Sunday) and requires a passport.

The Ministry of Interior said registration would take place in the following locations in Abu Dhabi: Marina Mall from June 9 to June 13, Abu Dhabi Mall from June 23 to June 27, Wahda Mall from July 7 to July 11, Khalidya Mall from July 21 to July 25, Mushrif Mall from August 4 to August 8, Delma Mall from August 18 to August 22, Bawabat Al Sharq from September 1 to September 5.
