The Emirates Association for Social Development (EASD), as part of the Emirates Innovation Week, (Nov 20-26) will showcase a number of inventive schemes and activities in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK).
Khalaf Salem, director-general - EASD, told Khaleej Times that retirees will be in focus with several brainstorming sessions for two days, November 20-21.
"These will include specific training workshops to enlighten retired people on how to lead a healthy life and ensure successful financial management after retirement."
The association will give more attention to this important segment of society to benefit from their long accumulated expertise, he added.
"They are indeed strategic partners and critical assets in the process of development."
A special lab for innovative child is also planned in collaboration with the globally recognised Nutty Scientists Group, Salem stated. "The scheme will take place at the RAK Expo, on November 22-24."
The children will be entertained with an array of interactive shows, funny workshops, and interesting scientific demonstrations, he elaborated. "These will spur their scientific curiosity, and enhance their attention to science and technology."
Salem said they are concerned about creating and adopting new strategies and ideas to boost government and non-government practices in a special workshop for social innovation strategies at the RAK Expos on November 23.
"The training workshop is meant to help meet social needs, come up with sustainable solutions to community challenges, and develop all the vital sectors here."
Indicating, Salem said the UAE government, launching the Emirates Innovation Week, has paved the way for a more mature and decisive era to complete the national procession of development.
"Our prudent leadership, through this week, has featured how a serious government can make efficient use of all available resources, build up a healthy environment for innovation and excellence, and empower the nationals for the real change and invention."
