Dubai - The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai will have an innovation lab that will research into materials and technologies such as heat-resistant asphalt, dust-resistant glass and rail vibration sensors among others. The transport authority has announced that a standing committee will be formed to map out their innovation strategy.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, revealed that they have endorsed plans, programmes and initiatives for implementing the National Innovation Strategy and the Dubai Innovation Strategy.
The move is in implementation of the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to designate 2015 as a year of innovation in the UAE.
