Rulers Offer Prayers for Rain

ABU DHABI - Invoking heaven to shower mercy, the Rulers and Crown Princes of various emirates joined people in prayers for rain on Saturday morning. At the behest of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, special prayers for rain were offered all across the various emirates at 8am on Saturday.

Prayer for rain is a tradition in Islam, as the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray to Almighty God in supplication for rain when it was overdue or failed to set in.

In Sharjah, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah offered the rain prayers along with the people at the Al Badee prayer ground. Several officials in the emirate also joined them in the prayers.The prayers were also offered at several mosques in the Sharjah.

In Ajman, Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman offered the rain prayers at the Shaikh Rashid Mosque. Other shaikhs, government officials, tribal chieftains, and a large gathering of citizens and expatriates joined the Crown Prince in the prayers.

In Fujairah, His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah offered prayers at the Omer bin Abdulaziz Mosque.
