The mother of Emirati police officer First Lieutenant Tareq Al Shehi, who was killed in Bahrain in May 2014, has written a letter expressing profound grief to the mother of Saif Yousuf Ahmad Al Falasi, who is the UAE's third martyr in Yemen.
"I don't know what to write to you ... to mourn or to congratulate you ... our hearts and souls are broken and we are in tears ... tears of pride about our martyred children," reads the letter that was shared on Twitter by UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"The blood of our martyrs will not go in vain as in the UAE there are men who have vowed to take revenge against whoever attempts to breach others' rights, usurp their legitimacy and destabilise our home countries. You must realise that we are on the path of victory," Al Shehi's mother said in the message.
Commenting on the letter, Shaikh Abdullah tweeted: "I am compelled to bow as a sign of honour. Saif has sacrificed in defence of the Arab rights."
Al Shehi was killed during the anti-terrorism operation by the 'Peninsula Shield Force' in May last year.
Meanwhile, Emiratis and Arabs tweeting on social networking sites on Tuesday mourned the death of Al Falasi using hashtag #martyr_ UAE_Saif_AL Falasi. They expressed pride and praised his heroic acts to achieve security and stability in the Arab region. #SaifAlFalasi was trending on top in the UAE and was inundated with messages since the news went viral.
Online portal website24 also carried the message of Al Shehi's mother.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash tweeted that the "sacrifices of our martyrs for the sake of the country showed that realising the security and stability of the country is a national responsibility".
