A Saudi Airways pilot died of heart attack on board a flight from Bicha airport to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Airways director-general Saleh Nasser Al Jasser mourned the death of pilot Walid bin Mohammed Al Mohammed.
According to Gulf Digital News report, co-pilot Rami Ghazi Batabara requested an emergency landing and safely landed the plane after alerting the control tower.
"The aircraft and the passengers were not in danger for one moment as the assistant pilot managed to land safely," the state-owned Saudia Airlines said in a statement carried by Sada and other Saudi newspapers on Wednesday.
An Arab doctor who was travelling in the plane was requested to examine the pilot who fainted at 11.40pm.
The Saudi Airways issued a statement saying that passengers were not exposed to any danger whatsoever during the flight, reported local Arabic daily Al Riyadh.
