Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al Jubeir, warned of the danger of the situation in Syria, pointing out that unless there was a resumption of the ceasefire and the political process, the situation will deteriorate further and there will be chaos, and the killing and destruction will continue with the resulting risks to Syria and the region.
The Saudi Foreign Minister condemned the violations committed by the Syrian regime forces and its allies in contravention of international law and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254 and the indiscriminate shelling of civilian hospitals and the killing of innocent people which is rejected by the international community.
Al Jubeir made the remarks in press statements in Geneva on Monday following his meetings with US Secretary of State, John Kerry, and UN special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, according to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA.
Al Jubeir said that he called on the parties to restore the cease-fire, allow the access of humanitarian aid, resume negotiations based on the outcomes of the Geneva 1 talks, and establish a transitional authority to run the affairs of the country, ending with the holding of elections and a new future for Syria.
