A nurse in Saudi Arabia did not think of the repercussions when she flipped a finger in a video which has now gone viral. The General Directorate of Health Affairs in Saudi Arabia's Assir governorate suspended this nurse days after the video started gaining momentum online, according to reports in Sabq news.
The announcement came on Tuesday after the authorities came to know of the footage being circulated widely, showing the woman making an indecent gesture and sparking a social media frenzy.
According to Sabq's sources, the nurse is being dealt with according to article 43 of the kingdom's 'employee disciplinary code'.
The article states that an employee may be suspended if investigators or committees involved in their case believe it is for the benefit of the workplace. The unidentified nurse will now be further investigated.
However, not only the video was widely discussed on Twitter, the decision to suspend the nurse also went viral, with Twitterati divided into different opinions. One such tweet issued warning against posting such videos online and stated: "Someone must've leaked this off her private Snapchat. Don't trust anyone, even your own relatives on social media. Not every reaction can be filmed and shared on there."
Many social media users were of the opinion that the woman deserves to be punished for what she did, while others considered the entire incident was blown way out of proportion.
