Schools told not to give photocopied books

Nadya Maddi, deputy director of the Private and Quality Teaching at the Abu Dhabi Education Zone (ADEZ), told Khaleej Times that parents of two private schools in the emirate had filed complaints that they were distributing photocopied pages of the books despite the fact that the parents had paid the fees for original books.

“The ADEZ will impose penalties on schools in case they did not pay heed to the Zone’s instructions,” Maddi said.

She also urged the parents to inform the education zones in the capital or in Al Ain, even by phone, about any violations being committed by the private schools.

“We need to be informed by the parents in case of such violations. Parents should contact us if they find any breach of the law,” said Maddi.

The official noted that photocopied pages are harmful for the health of students because of the ink that is used by photocopiers.
