The fair is aimed at giving an opportunity to the low-income people to own books as the prices will not exceed Dh10 per book.
The proceeds of the fair will be allocated to support the programmes offered to children with special needs by the Shajrah City for Humanitarian Services.
A large number of students from various educational institutions from Sharjah, Dubai and Ajman are participating in the organisation of the event, said Hissah Sultan, Head of Public Relations Affairs of Al Qasba Canal.
Al Qasba Canal provided the logistic support for the event, she said, adding that aiming to encourage parents, the ticket of the Emirates Eye was reduced to Dh5.
About 100,000 titles are exhibited in the fair.
Hala Adel, member of the festival and head Public relations of the Scientific Innovation School, said the school offered about 2,400 books covering the different fields.
Children with special needs from Egypt's Orman School performed a special music at the Al Qasba theatre.
