Confiscated and seized goods get a humanitarian benefit in the emirate.
The Department of Economic Development - Dubai (DED) and the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has entered into an agreement to make use of the seized stuff, which are safe for human consumption, than destroying them.
According to the deal, DED will donate the confiscated products seized from unscrupulous traders for breaching the rules to the RCA, as charity, to be distributed among the needy. DED also seeks to instill charitable and humanitarian concepts and principles, and raise awareness among its staff.
The agreement was signed at the DED's premises by Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarooni, director of RCA, Dubai branch, and Abdullah Al Kaabi ,director of development and follow up for the commercial compliance and consumer protection at DED. Al Zarooni stressed the importance of the agreement in using the resources of the RCA to help and assist the poor at local and international levels.
