The seminar will be led by oncologist and hematologist Dr Andre Rizk, who will help to dispel the myths surrounding breast cancer, and who will urge women to monitor themselves through self-examination, in addition to attending regular examinations by a doctor.

General surgeon, Dr Paul Sayad, will talk about a new treatment that is on offer for the first time in the UAE at the American Hospital Dubai, to help treat the spread (metastasis) of breast cancer.

Dr Rizk comments, “Breast cancer is a common condition and early detection improves the overall cure rate and survival rate, so monthly breast self-examinations and mammograms are very important, with any lumps needing a thorough examination by a physician.”

“Breast biopsies and breast surgery are very safe procedures, with complications and risks being rare, and there are many treatment options, including breast-sparing surgery and sentinel node biopsy. In fact, the outlook for women with breast cancer is now better than it has ever been,” he concludes.
