Mumbai: After scuttling the scheduled concert by renowned Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena has now warned the organisers of a book launch featuring former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, not to host the event.
A junior Sena official has told the director of Nehru Planetarium that the party would disrupt Kasuri's book launch, scheduled for Monday. Sudheendra Kulkarni, chairman, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), which has organised the event in Mumbai, has urged Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to provide adequate security to the former Pakistan minister.
A Sena spokesman reiterated on Sunday that the party would not allow any function, featuring a Pakistani, to be held in Maharashtra. After the party warned the organisers of the event featuring Ghulami Ali last week, they hastily cancelled his performance, fearing attacks by the Sena.
Kasuri's book, Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider's Account of Pakistan's Foreign Policy, has been launched in Delhi and other places in India, with the former minister addressing gatherings and giving interviews.
