Several development projects implemented in Sharjah

Directorate of Public Works (DPW) in Sharjah recently implemented several developmental infrastructure projects in the Central Area in conformity with the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah aimed at constructing and developing infrastructure projects according to the highest international standards.

Engineer Suliman Al Hajiri, Manager of Road Projects Department, said that the projects involved constructing new sub-roads to Al Khawalid and Al Ma’ashi suburbs in Al Madam Area with a total cost of 7.3 million Dhs.

The projects involved constructing a single road with two lanes and a road shoulder, in addition to a roundabout that distributes traffic movement to government housing area. The roads were designed to provide side pavements with earth ducts for lightening services as well as other ducts for future expected services in accordance to the highest traffic safety standards. The roads will facilitate the movement of the inhabitants from the two suburbs and the neighbouring areas to Al Madam Area, and vice verse.

In a related context, as DPW is keen on developing government service facilities, a number of car park entrances and exits for government buildings in Sharjah was implemented to facilitate traffic movement leading to these buildings and to increase the capacity of these car parks.

Eng. Suliman Al Hajiri also announced the project of constructing new roads and car parks for Municipality Building, The Public Park and Ladies Club in Al Madam with a total cost of Dh 2.3 million. The first project involved constructing service roads for Municipality Building with pedestrian footpaths in addition to 65 car parks. A leading road to The Public Park with pedestrian footpaths and 149 car parks was also implemented.

Al Hajiri said that these projects will provide extra car parks to government buildings visitors as well as easy traffic flow.
