The Municipality declined to name the outlets that have been shut down, nor did it mention their exact number.

The action was taken after inspections by Health Section of food outlets, storage importers, and manufacturers.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Khalid Al Houseni, Head of the Health Section in Ajman Municipality, said the closed outlets lacked proper storage facility as well as cooling and freezing systems. They had also failed to heed the warnings given in the recent past.

The outlets that were issued warnings yesterday have been given a grace period to make amends, he said.

Raids will be continued on cafeterias, restaurants, traditional kitchens, fast-food outlets and drinking water companies. A check is also being kept on vehicles that transport water and food items from outside the emirate, Al Houseni added.

Al Houseni pointed out that the municipality is prepared and willing to receive public complaints round the clock everyday.

Inspections will also be carried out at auto repairs workshops and garages as well as auto oil change stations to ensure adherence to proper hygiene and environment conditions.
