Shaikh Hamdan issues resolutions on tourism

Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, has issued a resolution regulating registration of representatives of tourist facilities who are authorised to process their transactions with the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing.

Resolution No. 33 for 2012 also defines responsibilities and powers of the department, and other registration regulations.

The law stipulates developing provisions and criteria for registering the representatives, who will only be permitted to carry out any transaction when they have presented the required Identifications, exempt from this law are establishment’s business partners and the director whose name is in the licensing registration. According to the new law, the duration of the registration is one year, renewable for another year once all standard requirements have been met.

As for fines and penalties, any representative failing to comply with will be fined accordingly. Upon repeated offence, the fine will be doubled, and the maximum fine amount is Dh3,000, and the department has the right to suspend the representative from carrying out the transactions for his respective establishment, as well as the right to confiscate his Representative card and have his Registration cancelled.

Any contradictions in previous related laws will be nullified to meet new law issued. The law is effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Shaikh Hamdan issued Resolution No.35 2012 which levies a charge for issuing a certification of good conduct at the General Directorate of Dubai Police, Dh100 for citizens, and Dh200 for residents, both submitting requests from inside the UAE, and Dh300 for any requests from abroad.

The law is effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

Shaikh Hamdan has also issued Regulation No.4 for 2012, amending regulation no. 5 for 2009 concerning railways in Dubai. According to the amendment, Article 15 of Regulation No. 5 shall be replaced with the following text: A fee shall be charged against service certificate issued by Roads and Transport Authority as per the fees shown in the appendix no. 1 of this regulation.

It also provides for replacing the appendix in the regulation no. 5 for 2009 with the amended one in the regulation 4 for 2012. It will also be effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
