Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has visited the Dubai Canvas Festival at the Beach, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).

Shaikh Mohammed was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Shaikh Mohammed and his delegation toured the festival organised by Brand Dubai, a subsidiary of the Government of Dubai Media Office.

He asserted that 'Art is bridge that connects nations and creates a common ground for understanding and tolerance. Art opens doors among different cultures and encourage peace, coexistence and harmony.”

Shaikh Mohammed said that “Innovation is a prerequisite for excellence, assuring that creativity is original element for our future as the leadership is working hard to guarantee happiness for people and, on the other hand, confirm our country’s excellence.” He called everyone to adopt innovation to recognise quality achievements.

Director General of Dubai Media Office Mona Al Marri briefed Shaikh Mohammed on the festival’s concept and objectives in the light of Shaikh Mohammed’s directives to change Dubai into an open-air museum and promote Dubai as the global home for innovation and art, meanwhile capturing Dubai’s spirit as one of the world’s fastest growing cities.

During his tour, Shaikh Mohammed browsed through the artistic exhibits that were executed by 3D pavement art elites, including the founding father of 3D pavement art Kurt Wenner and number of Emirati and international artists.

Shaikh Mohammed was impressed about the idea of the festival and its objectives, and directed that more of such creative events would be organised in Dubai to enrich the emirate’s innovation environment and provide the young Emirati artists a convenient opportunity to interact with experts.
