Kanthapuram A.P. Abu Bakr Musaliyar, President of the Kerala-based Sunni Cultural Centre University, said in his speech that the National Day was an opportunity to express the deep-rooted ties of friendship between the UAE and India.
Shaikh Nahyan thanked him for his outstanding efforts to strengthen the friendly relations between Kerala and the Arab world.
“I am also pleased to welcome you on the occasion of the publication in Malayalam of the important book, Zayed Al Khair. I congratulate the author, Zaidi. I also thank Yusuff Ali for having taken the initiative to publish and distribute this extraordinary book to the people of Kerala and to Malayalam speakers everywhere,” he said.
“It has been our great fortune in the UAE that our country’s founder, Zayed Al Khair, was a highly successful leader.
Shaikh Zayed demonstrated throughout his life how outstanding and enlightened leadership can be used to transform society. He held in his heart our hopes and dreams for the future and formed a nation that looks to the future.
His leadership, vision and commitment to excellence have enabled all of us to enjoy the benefits of the country’s vibrant economy and to appreciate the role of the UAE on the world stage.
“Under Shaikh Zayed’s leadership, we, in the UAE, have set high standards and inspired each other to meet those standards. “We have acted in a mature, well-adjusted fashion, seized our economic and educational opportunities, and fulfilled our obligations as citizens of the UAE,” Shaikh Nahyan added.
Shaikh Nahyan indicated that during the past 41 years, as the UAE has become a part of the family of nations,
“I have been proud that we have maintained our basic identity. Our progress has been based on solid Islamic values and time-honored Arab traditions.
“We have learned over the years that development cannot be imported; rather, it must be generated from within by an educated populace, dedicated to the future of their country and able to participate in all useful developments in the world.”
