Present were Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works and Pink Caravan’s ambassador, and his two kids Sultan and Alya, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director General of Sharjah Statistics Centre (SSC) Pink Caravan Ambassador during their passing through Ajman, en route from Umm Al Qaiwain to Sharjah, on the 6th day of the Pink Caravan’s activities which kicked off Thursday 5th of April.

Sheikh Al Nuaimi did his handprint for The Pink Caravan’s Ambassadors program, while presented a commemorative gift (trophy) from the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department to the Pink Caravan’s riders as a token of appreciation to the Pink Caravan’s officials, organizing committees, riders, medical personnel and volunteers in recognition of their outstanding efforts in spreading awareness about the breast cancer, providing treatment to patients, and making the ultra modern detection technology accessible to the people in the UAE.

Sheikh Rashid said while receiving riders in Kempinski Hotel Ajman: “Taking into consideration the importance of the event at local and regional level and its noble humanitarian significance, the government departments in Ajman are participating and supporting this initiative on a large scale. In the healthcare sector, Khalifa Hospital is receiving all applicants for testing, while Ajman Police will facilitate the traffic of the Pink Caravan and supervise its tour in the emirate. We have informed the various government departments to participate in the tests.”

He noted that employees from the Ajman government, including the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, arrived at the test site at the hospital, as part of our commitment to public welfare and keenness to spare no effort to help the Pink Caravan achieve its mission as well as its various programs.

He added: “In fact we cannot say that the volume of awareness made has been adequate to achieve our goals and ambitions, as we are in constant awareness campaign, but we can notice an increasing public awareness on the important role played by the Pink Caravan. This was apparent from the various awareness programs on media. As for us, we are preparing from the moment to the next year. We decided to have only one program on two phases in April and October. The target will be on specific segments which will highlight the roles of the caravan, thus increase demand to make use of its medical services”.

Ajman Municipality’s Female employees went to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman to undergo early detection breast cancer tests, and were received by the Caravan’s medical teams who conducted the necessary tests and awareness workshops.

The Pink Caravan’s riders also visited Sharjah roads where people welcomed them and supported their mission.

The Pink Caravan’s riders will arrive in the emirate of Dubai on Wednesday, where they will stay for two consecutive days, during the first day of which they will visit Al Mamzar area and Dubai Academic City, where Zayed University will organize a lavish ceremony for the riders. They will stop, also, at Dubai Hospital and Dubai Customs, where they will have special morning ceremonies, too. On the second day they will stop in Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Dubai Media City and Mina Al Seyahi.

The medical clinics will be present today at Dibba Al Hisn in Sharjah, Dubai Customs, Zayed University and the Preventive Medicine Centre in Umm Al Quwain.

Pink Caravan’s campaign will run annually until 2014, under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

The Pink Caravan’s ride started in Sharjah on the 5th of April and will culminate in Abu Dhabi on the 14th of April. The Pink Caravan has over 180 riders divided into 15 – 18 riders daily, including the Pink Caravan’s ambassadors.

The Pink Caravan’s ride aims to spread greater awareness about breast cancer, encourage regular tests, and raise funds to buy a 3D mammogram clinic, which will provide free tests for citizens and expatriates in the country.
