The Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital built at a cost of US$5 million has been inaugurated in the Shulam area of South Waziristan, Pakistan.
The project is in implementation of the directives of The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to provide humanitarian and developmental assistance and support the health sector in Pakistan. It was also achieved by the follow-up of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan General Raheel Sharif inaugurated the hospital, in the presence of Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli, Director of UAE Project Assist Pakistan, UAE PAP, members of the UAE PAP management team, a number of senior Pakistan military officers, senior local government officials, tribal leaders, members of the community and hospital staff.
The opening ceremony featured a presentation on the project and the unveiling of a special commemorative plaque.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Sharif expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Khalifa for his continued support of Pakistan and the generous humanitarian initiatives provided to its people. He added that the UAE leadership and its people have supported the Pakistani people during humanitarian crises and natural disasters, provided all aspects of support and assistance, and established several projects which have contributed towards developing the country's various sectors including education, health, water, and road infrastructure.
Abdullah Al Ghafli on the occasion said that the opening of the 4330 square metres hospital is part of the UAE efforts to develop healthcare in Pakistan, and strengthen the efforts of the Pakistani Ministry of Health by enabling them to upgrade their medical services.
Al Ghafli explained that the Shaikha Fatima Hospital offers modern health services including consultation and treatment for women, children and senior citizens, as well as comprehensive healthcare to all people in the region.
