The award was presented to Shaikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on behalf of Shaikha Salama, by Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, at a special ceremony as part of the 10th Middle East Women Leaders Awards, which coincided with the International Women’s Day.

The award pays tribute to the remarkable acumen of the winner — her overall excellence, achievements and innovative leadership. The award recognises the impact of her contribution to her community and humanitarian work and, in the process, highlights the important role women like leaders like Shaikha Salama play in today’s organisations and how they inspire a new generation of women for further social, intellectual and cultural achievements.

The 10th Middle East Women Leaders Awards is organised by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute as a way of recognising the phenomenal treasures of versatile abilities and changing roles of women achievers.

The awarding ceremony witnessed the convergence of senior officials, topnotch businesswomen and women leaders who set trends, exercise influence, create and devise innovative strategies that made a difference to women’s involvement in the evolving global sphere.

Ali Al Kamali, CEO, Middle East Excellence Awards, said women in the UAE have always received support from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan which enabled them to keep pace with the scientific, social and economic development. This support reflects a huge development towards involving women in decision-making.

“Women in the UAE assume leading positions in various arenas. Specifically, there are now four female ministers in the cabinet, as this rate has not been achieved in any other country in the world,” Al Kamali added.

The Middle East Excellence Awards Institute recognises the phenomenal treasures of versatile abilities and changing roles of women achievers and aims to pay tribute to the outstanding contributions of women trailblazers who have made valuable efforts in inspiring and transforming the world with their indomitable willpower.—
