These were followed with 490 cases and 484 wallets, he added. "These are apart from 368 personal items, 271 documents and certificates, 212 merchandises, and 206 keys."
Sharjah cabbies also found 118 electronic devices and 107 passports over the same period, Al Jarwan stated. "These are added to 103 sums of money, 92 glasses, 23 child trollies, 18 cameras, 10 vehicle number plates, and 51 diverse items."

"The driver, Naseeb Ullah Sher Dhola, Pakistani, honestly and safely returned a suitcase stuffed with Dh1,700,000, along with important documents which later proved to be of a Korean merchant."
Al Jarwan said all staff drivers go through intensive training courses on a regular basis to improve their performance and enhance their response in case of emergency and similar situation as is the case with found items.
The public are urged to contact RTA Sharjah Call Centre at (600525252) round the clock to report lost items in a public bus or a taxi, he advised. "Passengers would better keep the receipt, and remember the colour of the taxi and driver's uniform as every company has a distinct colour."
With so many reports received on lost items, RTA Sharjah has installed special sensors in its taxi fleet to remind passengers to collect their belongings before getting off. "These sensors are to be fitted in all the 5,300 cabs running in the emirate."
