The UAE has several world records in its kitty. Now, Sharjah is attempting a truly commendable one. The message of sharing and giving will be amplified to a global audience through an event called ‘Joy of Giving’, which will attempt a world record for setting up the biggest charity box for a day.

The unique event under the Sharjah Ramadan Shopping Festival is inviting all residents of the UAE to this special world record feat at Al Buhairah Corniche on July 25. Residents can visit the specially set up venue at Al Noor Mosque in Khalid Lagoon, where they can donate to the less fortunate and spread the message globally.

True to the spirit of the cosmopolitan culture of the emirate, home to hundreds of nationalities, the event would be the first of its kind to be organised as a social convergence of families.

The record-breaking feat will also bring together about 5,000 people of various faiths for a free Iftar. In addition, free vouchers/goodies will be distributed to the public through various media channels to promote the event, and a blood donation camp will be held as well.

Government officials, members from popular business groups in the UAE, prominent personalities of neighbouring countries and celebrities will be present on the occasion.

It does not stop at that. Sharjah is also collecting donations for the poor via collection shelves at major malls in the emirate on behalf of the Sharjah Charity Organisation. Donations can include clothes, books, toys, toiletry and other items.

All corporate companies are invited to donate used clothes/toys to the needy and help in spreading the message of sharing and giving.

People can hand over their donations to the departments concerned in their organisations, and the colletions will be handed over to Sharjah Charity International.
