According to Majid Al Suwaidi, Head of the Inspection Department at the AMPD, a team from the department has recently started a market inspection on all the 65 cafes serving sheesha in Ajman to ensure that they are abiding to the safety rules and regulations.

“The approval of serving sheesha to customers till 2am will only be given to cafes strictly adhering to safety and health rules. During the inspection, the commercial trading licence is also being checked to ensure its not expired,” he added.

Al Suwaidi noted that the extension of the working hours came following suggestions received from the cafe owners as many visitors come the cafe to watch football matches that are usually broadcast during late hours.

“The inspection campaign will continue for one month and the approval to operate till 2am will only be issued to cafes found strictly adhering to safety rules.” Al suwaidi noted. news@khaleejtimes.com
