The UAE will play a leading role in China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the signing of two big deals in China on Friday. Dubai has bagged $3.4 billion worth of Chinese projects, Wam reported. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the signing ceremony during his visit to China for the BRI summit.
Under the agreements, a $2.4 billion Traders Market will come up in Jebel Ali to export Chinese goods from the UAE. Another $1 billion would be earmarked for a packaging and export venture for marine, animal products and agriculture.
Sheikh Mohammed said the projects would significantly contribute to the BRI.
