On June 17, the Tunisian, described as a rich woman, went to a shop in BurJuman Centre and stole a hand bag from the shop. On June 19, she again returned to the shop to shop-lift another bag, but was caught red-handed. She was referred to the police, where she confessed to the crime. Police recovered the stolen hand bag from her residence.
Her lawyer argued that his client was suffering from a psychological disorder, and that she was a kleptomaniac. He said the woman was rich enough to buy what she wanted, but she had this strong urge to shop-lift. The lawyer also submitted a medical report from the hospital where she was being treated for the disorder to prove that she was 'sick.' Based on the defence argument and the medical report, the court gave it's verdict.
