ABU DHABI — Popular Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal will sing live at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi, today, and she will not be alone.
For over three hours, Bollywood playback singer Shiva Prasad Mallaya will also be on stage, although he will not sing together with Ghoshal. Large groups of Bollywood musicians, dancers and an orchestra will form part of the performance.
The so-called mega-concert, full of colours, Indian love songs and dramatic music will be something out of a Hindi blockbuster movie. Ghoshal herself will sing songs from Bollywood movies. So far, the Indian darling has worked for over 180 Indian movies, singing not only in Hindi, but in several other languages, too. Her playback-singing career was set off by Devdas, a 2002 Indian movie based on a 1917 novella.
Presented by Peugeot and Omar bin Yousef companies, her Abu Dhabi concert is supported by 29 sponsors. The Indian community from all over the UAE is expected to attend the concert, which, according to the organisers, is pretty much sold out. Tickets still sell in Abu Dhabi at Dh150, Dh300 and Dh500 at all Al Ahlia Exchange branches and Lulu hypermarkets.
