Silver and gold coins to honour Shaikha Fatima, Shaikh Nahyan

ABU DHABI — The UAE Central Bank will soon issue commemorative gold and silver coins in honour of the Mother of the Nation, High Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, said Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education.

"The commemorative coins will include 1,000 pieces of gold, 2,000 pieces of silver in addition to 250,000 pieces of silver dirhams that will be on daily circulation," said Shaikh Nahyan.

Weighing forty grams, the coin will bear on one side the portrait of the Founding Father of the Nation, the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The other face of the coin will feature the logo designated for honouring Shaikha Fatima.

Shaikh Nahyan said the move was a token of appreciation for the enormous efforts exerted by the Mother of the Nation to create a bright and prosperous future for generations of UAE men and women. "It is also a commemoration of her worldwide humanitarian efforts," said Shaikh Nahyan, adding that the minting of the coin is part of the nationwide celebrations to honour the Mother of the Nation. He thanked the UAE Central Bank for its cooperation to issue the commemorative coins.

UAE Central Bank Governor Sultan bin Nasser Al Suweidi thanked Shaikh Nahyan for his efforts to launch the celebration to honour Sheikha Fatima.
