Mumbai: Popular Punjabi and Bollywood singer Labh Janjua was found dead at his home in Goregaon, a north-western suburb, on Thursday. He was 57.
According to the police, his housemaid came across his body in the flat and alerted neighbours. The body was sent for post-mortem, but the police do not suspect any foul play.
Originally from Khanna in Punjab's Ludhiana district, Labh shot to prominence after his song 'London Thumakda' in the Bollywood film Queen (2014) became a huge hit.
His most recent hit song was Dil kare chu che from the film Singh is Bliing. Labh, who has more than 125 songs to his credit, both Punjabi and Hindi, was also popular abroad. Bollywood celebrities tweeted their condolences. "Shockingly sudden death of Labh Janjua," tweeted singer Sunidhi Chauhan. "Really sad." actor Ayushmann Khurrana wrote: "RIP Labh Janjua. Your voice will always remain immortal. It carried the soul of Punjab."
