Slow moving traffic on Sharjah-Dubai roads; police issue warning against overspeeding

The police called on motorists to drive with caution and follow the traffic rules.

The Dubai Police on Sunday warned motorists against driving at high speeds on major highways, following the lifting of restrictions in the emirate.

"Driving at high speeds causes the most serious traffic accidents. We advise you to adhere to the legal speed limits," the police said on Twitter.

According to Google Maps, the main routes towards Dubai from Sharjah were gridlocked this morning, with traffic reduced to a crawl on a number of roads.
Heavy traffic congestion was observed on key highways like E311 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from Sharjah Industrial area towards Muhaisnah in Dubai.
Slow moving traffic was reported on the Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road from National Paints intersection to Mirdif City Centre. Major delays were also reported on the E11 route - from Sharjah to Dubai - particularly in Al Nahda, leading up to Hor Al Anz East.

There were tailbacks on E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road from Dubai towards Abu Dhabi. Slow moving traffic was also reported on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road near Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club - Abu Dhabi.

Traffic was also heavy in other areas such as Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Bharsha, Al Quoz 1, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area and near Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Commuters are advised to find alternative routes to circumvent the road jams and avoid delays.
