Jacobs, the Consul (Political), passed away on April 24. His key focus areas were political relations between South Africa and Dubai and the Northern Emirates. He also worked for tourism promotion and increasing the number of UAE nationals and expatriates visiting South Africa.
Ever since he was transferred to the UAE, he had organised a number of events on the tourism side, greatly enhancing the image of South Africa as a tourist destination of choice. A thorough gentleman and affable soul, he was well liked by his peers and acquaintances.
Jacobs’s funeral will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, today. The diplomatic mission will hold a memorial service in his remembrance tomorrow at the Grand Grill, Al Habtoor Hotel at 6pm. His colleagues at the South African Consulate General in Dubai, the South African Embassy in Abu Dhabi and South African Business Council (SABCO) will miss him dearly.
