Present at this tour was Dr Kamel Idir and a team of enthusiastic volunteers from the Rail Agency, RTA and Jassim Habib Al Kahlsan, from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The children who visited the mock-up included the visually impaired, deaf and dumb, while others were on wheel chairs, etc.
Dr Idir explained about the project highlighting the fact that the Metro is for everyone. He said, "Each carriage is equipped with space for a wheel-chair. Moreover, there will be signage and announcements to aid those visually impaired as well as for those that are deaf and dumb."
Jassim Habib Al Khalsan, Director of Ministry for Social Affairs said, "These children need visual and sensory stimulation and one of the ways to achieve this is by exposing them to society and interacting with them. The Dubai Metro will be a great commuting tool through which children can travel comfortably and yet efficiently. They will no longer have to experience traffic jams and delays," he added.
