The Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties (ADCP) has launched a child safety programme by installing fall-prevention devices on the windows of 40,000 homes in residential towers in Abu Dhabi. The move comes as a preventive measure against children falling from windows and balconies.
As part of the campaign, the property company will instal over 230,000 obstacle devices to the windows in the next 12 months. This intelligently engineered safety device has been designed to restrict the opening of a window or balcony door to a maximum of 10cm in accordance with Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) regulations.
The product conforms to local and international product quality marks including international standards BS 8213 and BS 5588.
Speaking about the child safety initiative, Abdulla Khalifa Al Suwaidi, managing director at ADCP, said: “As a building operator, we have a duty to ensure the safety of the residents in our properties, and window safety is of paramount importance.”
By the end of this installation programme, over 40,000 family homes will have been visited by our specialist installation teams,” he said.
He said they are expecting to instal approximately 230,000 fall-prevention devices on window and balcony egress points. All we ask residents is to allow our specialist installers to visit their homes and complete the task successfully.
The initiative is part of the property management firm’s efforts to curtail further incidents of young children falling from windows or balconies within their managed buildings. This effort follows Decree 24/2012 of Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), in accordance with ASTM F 2006 or ASTM F 2090 or an equivalent international standard.
