Students exhibit software projects

DUBAI — Innovative TV software and broadcasting projects by students from various universities in the UAE are being presented at the Mall of the Emirates throughout the Nature Surprises Week organised by Dubai Police.

A batch of 250 students from Zayed Univeristy, UAE University, Sharjah University and 12 different branches of Higher Colleges of Technology attended a summer course for the duration of five weeks beginning June 24.

The summer course encompassed all-round training of students and dealt in various areas such as leadership training, teamwork, brainstorming and planning, conceptualising and mind mapping, under the guidance of experts from the respective fields. The final week of the course coincides with Nature Surprises of DSS involved project work based on their learning and experience.

The students were divided into 18 groups each of which had to submit a project on the subject of their choice. The displayed projects include 11 projects selected from the final submissions.

Students from Higher Colleges of Technology produced an HCT channel, which is being broadcast from the Galleria area of the Mall of the Emirates. Other projects involve films, documentaries, live programmes and shows being presented from various corners of the mall. The most remarkable aspect of these productions is that they are fully conceptualised, produced, directed and delivered by the students with some technical support from established broadcast companies. The broadcasted programmes are supported by E-vision, Etisalat and Sama Dubai Television who provided technical support to the youngsters.

Visitors to the Mall of the Emirates can expect to see live studios, kids programmes, chat shows, interactive programmes, motion capture booths and cartoons on their visit to the mall. In association with Nature Surprises by Dubai Police, these projects also carry the message of environmental conservation.
