The educational campaign, being held by Yahsat in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), will see students being shown the state-of-the-art station facilities, video presentations of the launch, photo opportunities at the satellite antenna farm and talks from key Yahsat Emirati staff regarding the growth of the satellite industry and the economic benefits of the Yahsat’s satellite programme.
“We are delighted to announce this new educational initiative in celebration of the UAE’s 40th National Day. It is important that local students acknowledge and take pride in Yahsat’s contribution to our country’s economic development and we hope that many of them will be inspired and motivated to consider the satellite industry as a viable career option,” said Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani, CEO of Yahsat.
“Yahsat is investing in one of the world’s fastest growing industries; a sector that is creating the jobs of tomorrow through inspired leadership in a high-tech growth sector,” he added.
Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of School Operations, said that school visits to Yahsat headquarters “are considered a unique opportunity that help our students acquire first-hand information on the new multi-purpose satellite system ‘Yahsat’ and its benefits, in addition to enhancing their knowledge about satellite systems and their importance to the telecommunications sector.
“The launch of Abu Dhabi’s Yahsat satellite is considered one of the most important achievements in the satellite communication sector in UAE at large. It also reflects the vision of the emirate aiming at creating a diversified economic resource in line with Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030,” Al Dhaheri said.
Launched in 2007, Yahsat designed the region’s first multi-purpose satellite system. In April 2011, Yahsat launched its first satellite, Y1A, and working on the launch of its second satellite, Y1B, which is planned for the first quarter of 2012.
