Latifa Al Hosani, Al Asayel School principal said: “ The oil painting project was born in 2005/2006 academic year and was the idea of one of the students’ mothers who is an artist. She volunteered to teach oil paintings to our students in the Nature and Heritage theme. We feel so proud of our children creations and the level of proficiency they reached in this field”.
The students training program was initiated by Ayesha Al Suweidi, head of the Mothers Council Art Committee. Ayesha is an artist who first thought of teaching painting techniques and the first stage was to find the talented students and introduce them to the world of drawing basics and coloring techniques as well as searching for inspiring ideas and themes.
Later on, the idea gained great popularity and appreciation within the teaching stuff and they used the school break times in painting activities. The third stage saw the students’ mothers join the internal school exhibition. These joint efforts resulted in stunning artwork pieces added to the acquisition of the required artistic skills by the students.
Al Suweidi said that the number of young talents who took part in the training and excelled in painting was over a 100 students so far.
