A study released by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has suggested laws to combat organised crime in the country.
The paper titled "Organised Crime in the Comparative Law" underlined the importance of finding ways to tackle the crime as it affects the security and stability of the society.
The study noted that the organised crimes are on the rise across the world and noted that the conventional legislative strategy has indirect methods to combat the menace.
It referred to Article (18) of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime signed in Palermo,Italy, which recommended a greater coordination between the member countries to help the judicial authorities during investigations and trials.
The study also calls for an integration of prevention and punishment, studying the historical and individual dimensions, social and economical circumstances.
It found that to rein in this crime, the proficiency of police officers and officials concerned must be taken into consideration.
