The mega event organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information will last until 16th November in the most populous province in South Korea.
It is in the tradition of the emirate of Sharjah to organise the Sharjah Cultural Days in a new country each year, thus extending bridges of culture between nations with the ultimate goal of enhancing bonds of love and peace among various civilisations.
This year, GyeongGi was chosen due to its prominence in the East Asia. The province enjoys major political, economic and cultural importance in the country.
Though S.Korea’s largest city and national capital Seoul is situated in the GyeongGi, its provincial capital is Suwon, where large number of small and medium range companied are located.
As the backbone of Seoul in the means of manufacturing complex, GyeongGi Province is evenly developed in various industries such as heavy industry (electronics, machine, heavy and chemical industry, steel) as well as light industry such as textile.
The marathon cultural festival will offer several items reflecting the vibrant culture, tradition and heritage of the UAE.
The opening ceremony began with the arrival of the Sharjah Ruler, accompanied by UAE ambassador to S. Korea Abdullah Khalfan Mattar Al Rumaithi and the delegation accompanying the Ruler.
Upon arrival at the festival site, the Ruler was received by Kim-Moon-soo, governor of the GyeongGi province and a number of other senior Korean officials.
The ceremony was attended by a large number Korean dignitaries and cultural enthusiasts who were enthralled by the Emirati cultural presentations.
