Symposium participants honoured

SHARJAH — The Directorate of Town Planning and Survey (DTPS) yesterday held a ceremony to honour government departments and people who had contributed to the success of Sharjah’s eighth urban planning symposium ‘Federation and strategic planning coordination: Theory and practice in UAE’ that was held from April 3-5.

In his address, Obaid bin Ahmad Al Tunaiji, Director-General of Sharjah Town Planning and Survey Directorate and head of the Organising Committee of the symposium, said that the symposium was organised by the Sharjah Town Planning and Survey Directorate in collaboration with South Bank University of United Kingdom, Sharjah Municipality, American University in Sharjah and Sharjah University. More than 500 urban planning researchers and experts from various countries attended the symposium.

“A number of crucial topics were discussed including urban designing of roads, ways to improve the road situation in the emirate of Sharjah, etc. We have come up with a number of crucial recommendations,” said Al Tunaiji.

Khaleej Times, Al Khaleej, Al Bayan, Wam Agency, Sharjah University, Sharjah Television were honoured for their contribution to the success of the symposium.
